IMPORTANT UPDATES

Please refer to the home page for further details regarding the following:

  • The practice telephone system will not be operational on Wednesday 17th January.

  • The practice will be closed on Wednesday 24th January from 1:45 pm for staff training.

Appointments with a GP

The Practice is currently operating a telephone triage system for GP Appointments.

Telephone appointments with a GP are available for booking each day from 08:30 am.

Please note we are experiencing a high demand for telephone appointments.

The receptionist will want to ask some questions regarding the reason you wish to speak to a GP so that this information can be provided to the GP who will be contacting you once an appointment has been made.

If your medical issue is very urgent, and you require same-day attention from a GP, there is a GP on-call for emergencies or urgent care only every morning and afternoon.

Please note that if you are experiencing severe chest pain, shortness of breath, or symptoms of a stroke you should telephone 999 immediately.

If the doctor feels they need to see you face to face, they will arrange to do so.

Please be aware that at present the receptionists cannot arrange a face to face appointment with a GP.

When telephoning for an appointment you should only use option 1 for serious or life-threatening problems such as chest pain, collapse or breathing difficulties.

The Receptionists may ask you to send in a photograph, for the GP to assess. Please send this, marked with your name and DOB, to: photos.priory.z00252@gp.hscni.net .

Home Visits

Home visits are solely for those patients who are too ill to attend the Surgery.

If you require a home visit please ring us before 10.30 am if possible. This will allow the doctors to plan their rounds and avoid unnecessary delays.

The receptionist will ask you for your telephone number and some information about your condition to help the doctor to prioritise their visits. Please use the service wisely.

Appointments with the Treatment Room

If you require a blood test, please ensure when booking that the test:

- has already been requested by a GP

- is for the monitoring of a long term condition

- is for the monitoring of a medication

If the blood test has been requested by a hospital doctor, please ensure you bring with you hospital labels with you so that the result will go back to the hospital doctor who requested it.

Appointments with the Practice Pharmacists

We have Practice Pharmacists who are available every day for telephone consultations to deal with queries about medication and side effects.
